- We drove to another gorge area west of Zărnești, parked and walked up through this more open one, being Sunday lots of other hikers and walkers. We passed some climbers with ropes going up the sheer side of the gorge, ended up 1-2 kms ahead where a mountain stream flows under the roadway. Peter wanted to hike UP the mountain and eventually back to the car, but I was beginning to feel the strain of the past several days and begged off. We returned to the car. We headed to a smaller gorge, this one has a cable stretched across the top of it at 137 meters from which hardy souls can bungee jump. We walked up to the jumping area, where the cage which carries the jumper is hoisted up to the overhead cable. Preparing the jumper on the ground and hoisting the cage upward takes about an hour, so lots of people standing around watching. Will he jump or chicken out? There was also some light mist/rain but no thunder/lightning. Well, he did jump and Peter got a picture of him on the way down. In the meantime I had walked about 1-2 kms up the road, crested a small rise and ahead about 100 yards to the right of the road was a trash heap, and a small brown bear rummaging around in it; when he/she saw me, he turned and lumbered back into the woods. I decided I had gone far enough, and returned, met Peter coming to find me, and we went back to the car.

- Odată ce ai intrat in Chei, imaginea se schimba, peisajul devine abrupt si colțuros, stâncile salbatice așteptând parcă să fie cucerite. An de an, vară de vară, traseele de alpinism iși așteaptă impătimiții. Cele mai cunoscute sunt Surplombele de Aur și Santinelele Cheilor, locuri prin care deseori se antreneaza și Vânătorii de munte. Dar pe lângă acestea, Cheile Râșnoavei abundă de trasee montane, marcate cu vopsea roșie, gata să fie cucerite de turiști. In impresionantul perete din Cheile Râșnoavei – malul drept – s-au stabilit mai multe trasee alpine, dintre care cele mai cunoscute sunt Santinela Cheilor si Surplombele de Aur. Alături de aceste trasee, in Cheile Râșnovei au apărut si alte trasee care pot fi cu ușurinţă reperate, fiind marcate foarte vizibil cu vopsea, aplicată pe stânca. Dar principala atracție este bungee jumping-ul de la 150 de metri cădere liberă. Instalația de bungee jumping din Cheile Râșnoavei este cea mai populară din România (alături de barajul Vidraru) și este considerată ca fiind cea de-a doua din Europa (după Elveția), cu o inălțime de 135 m (și posibilități de extindere până la 155 m), pe o distanță de aproximativ 100 m, in funcție de greutatea celui care sare. Saltul durează aproximativ 45 de minute si costa in jur de 300 RON. Recent, a fost inaugurată și o instalație de 42 de metri, pentru cei care experiementeaza pentru prima oară saltul in gol cu coarda elastică. Alte atracții sunt, firește, cățărarea la liber și tiroliana. Tot din Cheile Râșnoavei te mai poți aventura pe unul din traseele nu mai lungi de două ore ca timp, către Vârful Postăvarul, Dealul cu Mesteceni, Stejarii Argintii sau Poiana Brașov. In zonă se afla și Cetatea Râșnovului, ridicată in Evul Mediu, in scop de apărare.
